Local Poker Networking in the Information Age

"Lot of games this weekend, so you're gonna need the number." -Some guy from Rounders

Not anymore. Now all a prospective underground poker player has to do is hop online and go to any number of sites that assist in collaborating local players. Two years ago the only poker I played was in the dorms, my dorm to be exact. Finding another game on-campus was a huge discovery, playing with strangers off-campus was not even a thing (good writing, huh?). Then came Poker Meetup and everything changed. Once you get plugged into that type of exchange your networking capablilies grow exponentially. It's as easy as signing on and scoping out which users are lames and which ones are actual players. Then a few e-mails later and you're sitting in the big game with a bunch of guys you've never met before playing for real money (and no rake!).

Then what happens is you start personally networking, and it multiplies, because you talk to people, and they know people, and somewhere along the line everyone is playing with someone who knows somebody you know. Pretty soon all the real players in the area know each other and the poker universe is in balance.
