eBay and the Inception of a Gambler

I guess you could say I got my start in the world of gambling via eBay back in the early days. When I was a senior in high school a buddy of mine and I would buy crap from a local estate auction and post auctions on eBay. We probably only cleared a couple hundred bucks on the whole operation (which was quite labor intensive), but the entrepeneurial spirit was instilled and solidified by this experience. Calculated risk is a factor in everything we do in this life. Another important concept is opportunity cost and expected value. We weren't getting a very good price on our eBay business, but the opportunity cost was so low (we didn't really have anything better to do) that it made the enterprise quite worthwile.

I like to think of poker as the ultimate and purest form of entrepeneurship. You have to work hard to make yourself float in that world, and there's a lot of dumb luck, but in the end it's what you put into it that determines what you get out of it.

Incidentally, if anyone needs 100 casino poker chips, check out my most recent eBay post...woops, I just went to check it out and it sold already. It was up for about 9 minutes. Damn, I should have asked for more. Oh well.
